Short-stay (C), long-stay (D), airport transit (A), and special categories (e.g. border visa for crews) follow Schengen-aligned rules adapted to national law. Each type has specific validity, entries, and permitted activities.
Certain nationals may enter visa-free for tourism if they hold a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa used at least once in the area, or a valid residence permit in Schengen states, subject to conditions in the visa regime decision.
Border police may refuse entry if documents are insufficient or security grounds apply. A visa does not guarantee entry; the border officer takes the final decision at the crossing point.
